Policy Statement

  1. Once a student has been accepted for piano study, it is expected that regular practicing is part of the agreement. I expect students to practice at least 5 days per week.

  2. A satisfactory piano (keyboard) and parental encouragement are necessary for success. Please make the same commitment to piano lessons as you would to the basketball or soccer team and your child will follow your example. Look in your child's notebook. If s/he is on the same pieces for 3 or more weeks (elementary level), better practicing is needed.

  3. Please be prompt for lessons and have all materials along. Each student must have a music notebook and a folder. Please do not schedule events so closely that you must leave early. Allow enough time to complete your lesson. When students are in a rush to make a deadline elsewhere, they are distracted and unable to focus.

  4. Tuition reserves your exclusive lesson time; it is payment for your course of music education. Therefore, payment must be made for all missed lessons. There is no refund for classes missed because of student absences. If given 24 hour notice that the student will be absent, I will schedule up to 2 make-up lessons, if possible.

  5. Payment for tuition and other student expenses (music, registration fees) are due by the 10th of each month. Please contact studio for current rates. Checks are payable to: Katherine A. Warner.

  6. Parents are always welcome to attend lessons. Other family and friends are asked to stay in the waiting room.

  7. If Owatonna schools are closed due to bad weather, lessons will be given as scheduled unless I notify you. The studio may be open even if schools are not in session. Please check your Studio Calendar for vacation days. This includes teacher work days at the end of the quarters. If St. Mary School is NOT in session, students will have lessons at my studio, 516 N. Cedar St.

  8. In the summer, the regular attendance policy does NOT apply. During these months, lessons are given on a “by the week” basis.
